Duke 'Jump for the Children' Shows Take Their Place at Tryon International

Since its inaugural show in 1984, the Duke “Jump for the Children” Horse Shows (Duke Shows) have made a significant impact for the Duke Children’s Hospital of Durham, North Carolina. For the first time since 1994, when Glenn and Joan Petty of Triangle Farms took the reins of the Duke Shows, the horse show received permission from the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and the US Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) to change locations. The shift to host this special event at Tryon International began with Glenn Petty’s appointment as Tryon International’s General Manager, Equestrian Events in March of 2024.

Tryon Duke "Jump for the Children" Benefit II: Results

November 15, 2025 - Mill Spring, NC - It was an exciting conclusion to the Duke “Jump for the Children” benefit shows and the inaugural Duke Under the Lights events. Audrey Muscari (Ocala, FL) aboard Chester Du Roset (Chief V x Calixe Du Roset) came out on top in the $50,000 Henri De Rivel Duke “Jump for the Children” Grand Prix, as the only pair to break into 40 seconds during the competitive jump off. As the last entry to compete in the Tryon Stadium, Fernando Cardenas (New Hill, NC) rode his third mount of the night, Fernando Cardenas Sr.’s 2015 Warmblood gelding Fano Car (Dianant D'heure ABF x Ursula Car) into second place on their jump off time of 41.425 seconds. Brooke Kemper (Reddick, FL) was the first rider to set a clear 41.631 second speed round ride, piloting Arpeggi (Arpeggio x Lucy Lancer), the Arpeggi Group’s 2010 Westphalian gelding.

Tryon Duke "Jump for the Children" Benefit II: Saturday Update

November 13, 2025 – Mill Spring, NC – Fernando Cardenas (New Hill, NC) ended Thursday night two-for-two with $25,000 LeMieux Welcome Stake wins, once again claiming the victory with Balou’s Honora Car (Balou Du Rouet x Ursula Car). Riding for Fernando Cardenas Sr., the team landed on a jump off time of 37.16 seconds, topping a field of 29 competitors. Holding the lead until Cardenas’ clear round, Ciaran Flynn (Apex, NC) slotted into second place aboard Apex Equestrian Center’s Calvin Harris 3 (Calatos x Stutbuch 1), marking 76.09 seconds with the 2014 Oldenburg gelding. Brooke Kemper (Reddick, FL) rode Arpeggi, the 2010 Westphalian gelding owned by The Arpeggi Group, to third place on a 37.44 second jump off time.

Tryon Duke "Jump for the Children" Benefit I: Results

Ken Krome designed a difficult course for the $50,000 Henri De Rivel Tryon Duke Jump For The Children Grand Prix, with six riders qualifying for the jump off and only two teams going double clear. The fastest of those two was Richie Moloney (Wellington, FL) and Ermes Di Tai (Canturano x Vittoria Di Tai). It was Taylor Land (Atlanta, GA) and Kim Land’s 2009 Holsteiner gelding Caballero (Casall x Ricarda I) who secured second place with the only other clear round in the speed round. Fernando Cardenas Sr’s 2015 Warmblood gelding Fano Car (Dianant D'heure ABF x Ursula Car) and Fernando Cardenas (New Hill, NC) were the fastest of the jump off four faulters, and completed the class podium.

Tryon Duke "Jump for the Children" Benefit I: Saturday Update

November 6, 2025 - Fernando Cardens (New Hill, NC) qualified his three entries for the jump off in Thursday’s $25,000 LeMieux Welcome Stake, and came out on top with Balou’s Honora Car (Balou Du Rouet x Ursula Car). Michael Kocher (Lynn, NC) and his 2017 Zangersheide gelding Dexterity Z (Dominator 2000 Z x Can Can Of Windsor Z) stopped the timers at 38.33 seconds for the second place position. Doug Payne (Rougemont, NC) also qualified his three entries for the speed round, and secured third place just behind Michael with 38.546 seconds aboard the Payne Equestrian 2011 Holsteiner gelding Quintessence (Quinar x Victoria's Secret).

Triangle Farms Fall Finale: Results

October 31, 2025 - Pakia Vang (Chapel Hill, NC) earned her “redemption” ride with Endless Joy (Indoctro x Varina) during the Triangle Wee Equitation Cup Finals. Just four riders were able to showcase their Equitation across all three phases; Over Obstacles, Flat, and a Test. Second place was received by Annabel Cross (Chapel Hill, NC) and her 2009 Warmblood gelding Vivaldi (unknown x unknown). Third went to Sydney Hensley (Cary, NC) aboard Simply Finn-Nomenal (unknown x unknown) her 2017 Holsteiner gelding. As only four riders were chosen to perform the Test from the original eight performing in the Flat phase, Kaitlyn Ellison (Apex, NC) with Alecia Ellison’s 2014 German Riding Pony mare, Lavender Haze (unknown x unknown) received fourth place honors.

Tryon Fall Dressage 3: Results

Mill Spring, NC - Tryon International wrapped up their Dressage competition for the year with Tryon Fall Dressage 3 taking place over the weekend. The competition took place Friday, October 24th-Sunday 26th, and featured CDI, CPEDI, and National - up to level five, classes. Observing the CDI and CPEDI classes were judges, Sandy Hotz (USA), Elke Ebert (GER), Monique Peutz-Vegter (NED), Richard Baldwin (GBR), Sarah Geikie (USA), and Adrienne Pot (USA/CPEDI). In the boxes for the National competition was Elizabeth Kane and Adrienne Pot.

Tryon Fall 5: Results

October 18th, 2025 – Adding a third FEI win to his week at Tryon International, Daniel Coyle (IRL) left Tryon Stadium on Saturday afternoon with the blue ribbon. With equine teammate Farrel (VDL Cardento 933 x Argelith Stakkato) rising to the occasion, the 2010 Dutch Warmblood gelding and Coyle bested a field of 27 competitors to claim the $31,100 Winning Round CSI 5* victory. Securing a double clear performance, Coyle and Farrel finished with a jump off time of 48.47 seconds. Aboard Lesley Martin’s Perte Totale De Res Nova (Comme Il Faut x Verdi), Andrew Bourns (IRL) also captured a double clear effort with the 2015 Belgian Warmblood stallion, marking 50.14 seconds in the jump off. Third place, with a jump off time of 51.02, was awarded to Nicolette Hirt (USA), riding Kaphira (Broere VDL Corland x Clearway), the 2015 Dutch Warmblood mare owned by Chatwood Farms LLC.

Tryon Fall 5: Saturday Update

October 17, 2025 – The biggest week of the Tryon Fall Series presented by Coca-Cola has commenced in the Blue Ridge Foothills, bringing CSI 2* and 5* competition, along with the thrills of Major League Show Jumping action. Now two-for-two on CSI 2* wins, Daniel Coyle (IRL) once again found the top of the podium in Tryon Stadium, taking first in Friday’s $32,000 Vogel Grand Prix CSI 2* with Ariel Grange’s Daydream (Phin Phin x Voltaire). Coyle and Daydream crossed the jump off timers at 38.01 seconds for a double clear effort. 17-year-old Tony Stormanns (GER) teamed up with Cassius Clay (Comme Il Faut x Albatros), the 2015 Hanoverian gelding owned by HS Sportpferde GMBH, to take second place, just behind Coyle in 38.41 seconds. Also a talented young force, Olivia Sweetnam (USA) claimed third aboard Epic (Billy Mexico x Flyinge Electro), the 2015 Anglo European gelding owned by Sweet Oak Farm and Monica Preston, marking a 40.41 second jump off.

Tryon Fall 4: Results

October 11, 2025 – Mill Spring, NC – Capping off an action-packed evening of Show Jumping $120,000 Skyla Credit Union Grand Prix CSI 3*, Rupert Carl Winkelmann (GER) emerged as the top competitor in a field of 40 teams. Paired with his own Imodo (Bessemeind’s Quasimodo Z x Broere VDL Corland), Winkelmann produced one of only two double clear rounds of the night, finishing the short track in 42.70 seconds. Owner and rider of Flagship De Hus (Windows VH Costersveld x Fergar Mail), Alejandro Leonardo Winkler (MEX) slotted into second place, recording 44.11 seconds in the jump off with the 2015 Selle Francais mare. Keeping the poles up but incurring two time faults to land in third, David Blake (IRL) piloted Conblue (Conthargos x Chacco-Blue), Pine Hollow Farm’s 2014 Oldenburg gelding, to a 53.06 second jump off.

Tryon Fall 4: Hunter Update

October 10, 2025 – Mill Spring, NC – Hunter action returned to the lights of Tryon Stadium on Friday evening with the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby taking centerstage. Kelli Cruciotti Vanderveen (USA) partnered with Ratino KN Ter Beuken (Gino H x Extreme From The Breeder D 09) to put 361 points on the board to take the win. Classic round high scorer Ethan Maye (USA) piloted his own Uno Dinero (Unknown x Unknown), the 2011 Holsteiner gelding, to second place on a total of 340 points. Past derby winner Victoria Free (USA) and Andrea Block’s 2016 Hanoverian gelding Step Up (Cabana x Speak Up) collected 339 points to slot into third place.

Mill Spring, NC – October 9, 2025 – An international podium took over Tryon Stadium after the conclusion of Thursday’s $32,000 LeMieux Welcome Stake CSI 3*. The top spot was awarded to Tanner Korotkin (USA) who piloted Cardozo 4 (Colestus x Falkenhof’s Lancer) to the win. The 2012 Danish Warmblood stallion Wannabe CS (Warrant x Pythagoras), owned by Brooke Peterson and ridden by Peter Petschenig (AUT), received reserve honors. October 4, 2025 – Mill Spring, NC – Besting an ultra-competitive field of athletes in Saturday night’s $70,000 Back on Track Grand Prix CSI 2*, Jad Dana (LEB) saw the top of the podium once again with teammate Itchcock Des Dames (Marius Claudius x Calvaro F.C.). Blazing through the jump off timers in 37.46 seconds, the winning pair produced a double clear effort on the Oscar Soberon (USA) track. Aboard Leeann Ablin’s Baroness (Balous Bellini x Unknown),  Luis Fernando Larrazabal (VEN) and the 2015 Westphalian mare completed the short round just behind Jad Dana, marking a time of 38.07 seconds. Tryon Fall 3: Hunter Update

October 3, 2025 – Mill Spring, NC – Week three of the Tryon Fall Series presented by Coca-Cola saw no shortage of talent in the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, with Hunter teams taking over the International Stadium Friday evening. As the final horse-and-rider team to tour the Seth Clayton (USA) track, Jennifer Alfano (USA) and her own Ivy League (Cumytime Z x Ibiza-S) scored a win, collecting a 372 point total. Fabian Herrera (USA), owner and rider of the 2012 Warmblood gelding Accelerator (Accelerator x Bazylia), earned second place in the derby with a total of 279 points. Jennifer Alfano also partnered with Meredith Lipke’s Paradigm (Carrico x Queensberry PJ), the 2012 Warmblood gelding, to score 279 points and a third place finish.
