Spartan Event Weekend
The Spartan Race returns to Tryon International, August 2-3! Featuring 5K and 10K races, along with kids races from 1KM to 3KM, this is a thrilling weekend for all ages, competitors and fans alike. Spartan competitors and their cheerleaders can enjoy Smoky Mountain views, honor military members and first responders, and the Tryon International’s unique terrain and trails.

Tryon International Disc Golf Classic
The Tryon International Disc Golf Classic, driven by Innova, returns August 16-17! New to 2025, pay to play for non-competitors runs August 12-15 and is $10/player! Registered tournament competitors have the option to play both courses free of charge Friday, August 15th. The Innova Disc Golf Tournament features two courses - Glades Course and Lake Course - each with 18 holes. All divisions will play both courses! The courses will be set up all week, allowing players to check them out ahead of the event. Pending availability, tournament registration will be open until the event commences.

Portuguese Water Dog Trial at Tryon International
A Portuguese Water Dog Trial comes to Tryon International August 16th and 17th from 9am to 3pm. Come join us to watch these amazing working dogs having fun demonstrating how they helped fishermen hundreds of years ago, from land to boat and boat to boat. The trial shows beginning Junior level up to Master level.

"Get This Party Started" Friday Night Cross Country Run
Tour the equestrian center on foot at Tryon International’s Friday night cross country relay! Featuring a high school relay format in teams of two, team members will run 1.25 mile loops, alternating for 5 miles per team.

Tryon Fall CDE
Like the sport of Eventing, but with a horse-drawn carriage, the sport of Driving (also known as Combined Driving) tests a handler’s skills over three phases - Dressage, Marathon, and Cones - in Singles, Pairs, and Four-in-hand divisions. This sport demands horse-and-driver communication, finesse, and teamwork through three challenging phases of competition.

Duke "Jump for the Children" Horse Show I
The Duke "Jump for the Children" Horse Shows will be moving from Raleigh, NC to Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort in November 2025. Competition will feature USEF National and Level 4 competition, continuing a 42-year tradition of raising lifesaving funds for Duke Children’s Hospital (Duke Children’s). Duke “Jump for the Children” I is a USEF Heritage Competition.

Duke "Jump for the Children" Horse Show II

The Tryon Summer Series, hosted June 20-July 20, features six weeks of Hunter/Jumper competition, with regional, national, CSI 2* and CSI 3* levels throughout the series. Tryon Summer 4 is slated to host the annual Pony Spectacular with a Pony Hunter Classic, costume parade and stall decorating contests. Free and open to the public!

Tryon Summer 5 (National / Level 6 / CSI 2*)
The Tryon Summer Series, hosted June 20-July 20, features six weeks of Hunter/Jumper competition, with regional, national, CSI 2* and CSI 3* levels throughout the series. Tryon Summer 4 is slated to host the annual Pony Spectacular with a Pony Hunter Classic, costume parade and stall decorating contests. Free and open to the public!
North American Hobby Horse Series™ presented by Chick-Fil-A Forest City
A favorite free event Saturday afternoons in July and October, the worldwide sport of hobby horsing debuted in America at Tryon International in 2017. All that’s required for this sport is a hobby horse: a toy consisting of a stick with a horse head that participants “ride.”
