Mill Spring, NC - Tryon International wrapped up their Dressage competition for the year with Tryon Fall Dressage 3 taking place over the weekend. The competition took place Friday, October 24th-Sunday 26th, and featured CDI, CPEDI, and National - up to level five, classes. Observing the CDI and CPEDI classes were judges, Sandy Hotz (USA), Elke Ebert (GER), Monique Peutz-Vegter (NED), Richard Baldwin (GBR), Sarah Geikie (USA), and Adrienne Pot (USA/CPEDI). In the boxes for the National competition was Elizabeth Kane and Adrienne Pot.

October 24, 2025 - In the largest class of the CDI and CPEDI division, Julio Mendoza Loor (ECU) produced the highest score aboard Jewel’s Goldstrike (Bretton Woods x Watermill Scandic). The team received a 69.978% for their efforts across the FEI Grand Prix CDI 3* pattern. Riding the 2011 Dutch Warmblood gelding to a pair of 8’s during their first Piaffe 12 to 15 steps, overall, they had a successful test scoring majority 7’s. Their success continued into Saturday, earning the highest score of 76.190% in the CDI 3* FEI Grand Prix Freestyle.

Putting in a “Personal Best” and earning the second top score of the class was Laine Ashker (USA) aboard Zeppelin (Blue Hors Zack x Hardenberg Donnerschwee). They scored 67.044% overall, with their highest marks coming from Judge, Sarah Geikie, at box C. The 2014 Oldenburg gelding received three 7.5’s during his canter “Pirouette to the left”, indicating the team’s best performance during the pattern. Similarly to their competitor Julio Mendoza Loor, Ashker and Zeppelin were successful in Saturday’s freestyle competition with the second highest score of 72.955%.

Ranking third on a 66.435% score was the 2012 Dutch Warmblood stallion, Hitmaker (Wynton x Cabochon) and rider Alexandra Duncan (CAN). Judging from box H, Elke Ebert averaged the highest marks for the Canadian rider and her mount. A pair of 7.5’s during the pattern’s third movement, “Half-pass to the right”, was this duo’s highest marks during the class. They also rode in Sunday’s CDI 3* FEI Grand Prix Special, and scored 68.107%.

Cynthia Screnci Dances into the 70%’s in CPEDI 3* FEI Para Grand Prix Freestyle Grade V
October 26, 2025 - Wrapping up the Tryon Fall Dressage 3 competition with the last class of the day, CPEDI 3* FEI Para Grand Prix Freestyle Grade V, was Cynthia Screnci (USA). Riding her 2017 Hanoverian gelding For Memory 4 (For Dance x Destano), they produced an overall score of 70.733% which was their best score of the weekend. Excelling in their “Extended walk (minimum 20m)” movement, the team received a pair of 7.5’s for their efforts. Noting high scores from box C was judge Adrienne Pot, who scored them a 71.575% overall.

FEI Prix St. Georges* Sees Steep Competition Across Open and Adult Amateur Divisions
October 24, 2025 - There were seven horse and rider combinations to enter the sandbox in the FEI Prix St. Georges* competition on Friday. With two divisions, the Open and Adult Amateur, five riders participated in the Open, and the other two in the Adult Amateur. Elizabeth Kane observed the rides from box C to score the competitors.
The top rider of the class and winner of the Open Division was Charlotte Osborne (GBR) aboard Nadal W (Just Wimphof x unknown). Entering the ring as the first entry, the 2018 Dutch Warmblood gelding produced a total score of 71.618%, with their highest mark of 8.0 being produced with both a half-pass to the left and right.

Riding in the Adult Amateur Division, Elma Garcia (USA) piloted the 2015 Hanoverian mare Fibonacci (Fidertanz x De Niro) to a score of 62.500%. They earned their highest mark of 7.5 towards the end of the test during the “Half pirouette to the right” movement.
