October 17, 2025 – The biggest week of the Tryon Fall Series presented by Coca-Cola has commenced in the Blue Ridge Foothills, bringing CSI 2* and 5* competition, along with the thrills of Major League Show Jumping action. Now two-for-two on CSI 2* wins, Daniel Coyle (IRL) once again found the top of the podium in Tryon Stadium, taking first in Friday’s $32,000 Vogel Grand Prix CSI 2* with Ariel Grange’s Daydream (Phin Phin x Voltaire). Coyle and Daydream crossed the jump off timers at 38.01 seconds for a double clear effort. 17-year-old Tony Stormanns (GER) teamed up with Cassius Clay (Comme Il Faut x Albatros), the 2015 Hanoverian gelding owned by HS Sportpferde GMBH, to take second place, just behind Coyle in 38.41 seconds. Also a talented young force, Olivia Sweetnam (USA) claimed third aboard Epic (Billy Mexico x Flyinge Electro), the 2015 Anglo European gelding owned by Sweet Oak Farm and Monica Preston, marking a 40.41 second jump off.

Daniel Coyle’s winning mount Daydream is a new teammate, but already proving her worth. “Ariel Grange bought her last year, and we had really high hopes for her,” Coyle said of the 2016 Hungarian Sport Horse mare. “This is her third Grand Prix win this year – she also won a 3* [at the European Championship].”

“She’s an amazing horse,” Coyle said of Daydream. “She’s just starting her career, and she’s already winning at the top level. She still has so much to learn, and I can’t wait for that to happen!”

Coyle revealed that Daydream’s athleticism allowed him to leave strides out in several parts of the Peter Grant (CAN)-designed course. “She has a really big stride, and she has lots of scope. It’s a big advantage, especially in a class like this.”

With teenage competitors Tony Stormanns and Olivia Sweetnam on the heels of Coyle and Daydream, Coyle put his veteran’s experience to good use on the short track. Riding one less stride in the course’s center line, he was able to make up the extra time to reach the top of the leaderboard. “I think if [Tony and Olivia] jumped it again, they would leave that stride out as well. It’s the first time in my life I feel a little old!” Coyle quipped.
As the highest placing female rider in the $32,000 Vogel Grand Prix CSI 2*, Olivia Sweetnam received the Leading Lady Award presented by Fairfax & Favor alongside Paula Cudd.

As Coyle looks to add another win to his week, his team is taking full advantage of all that Tryon International offers. “I like that everything here is on site, and that I can do the 2*, 5*, and also the young horse classes,” he shared. “You get to do it all here!”
Heather Oswald was presented the Groom’s Award presented by Regal Downs for her care and dedication to Daydream alongside Tryon International's Drew Page.

According to winning rider Brooke Kemper, Ugo Des Dames Z comes from a talented family, with a sibling also competing at Tryon International this week. "‘Ugo’ is a six-year-old that I imported as a four-year-old after I sold his brother," she shared. "[His brother] Quix Des Dames is now showing as ‘Styles’ with Aaron Vale."

“This summer, I decided that I thought he would prefer to be a hunter than a jumper,” Kemper detailed. “In July, he did his first hunter show. This is his fourth hunter show, and he seems to like it!”
“It’s been really easy,” Kemper explained, describing Ugo’s transition from jumper to hunter. “He’s really brave, and he naturally wants to be calm.”

"It gave a lot of nice options," Kemper said of the Hunt & Go course built by JP Godard. "I loved the option after the trot jump – it gave you the opportunity to make the choice that best suited your own horse. There were plenty of options to go wide if you needed to give a young horse experience, or to turn a little bit shorter if your horse was ready to be handy."

“Tryon is great! We love coming here, particularly in the fall. It’s one of our favorite venues to come and visit, and we’re glad to be back this year,” Kemper concluded.
