New High-Speed Indoor Track Coming to Tryon International
Tryon International announced today the future installation of a custom-designed Mondo Super X 720 track, enabling the center to host full track meets this winter. The new track will be installed by GeoSurfaces, A TenCate Company, and will begin hosting meets starting in December 2025. The Indoor Complex at Tryon International is designed with over 3,300 seats in close proximity to the competition areas and track, providing a dynamic experience for spectators. The new track will be multi-radius and will support a 12-degree banking, setting it up to be one of the fastest tracks in the country. This new 200m track replaces the one installed by GeoSurfaces in 2023.
JJ Torano and Vitus K Dominate the Second Week of Tryon Spring Series presented by Fields Auto Group
Capping off the second week of competition in the Tryon Spring Series presented by Fields Auto Group, BMW Asheville, Mercedes Asheville and DEFENDER, JJ Torano (Wellington, FL) and JET Show Stable’s Vitus K (Verdi TN x Evita) depart from Tryon International with a $30,000 Earl Scruggs Music Festival Grand Prix win under their belts. The fourteen-year-old Torano challenged the Oscar Soberon (Dallas, TX) course on three horses, with two making the cut to the jump off. Emily Dehoff (Wellington, FL) took The Sporty Game, LLC’s Manou De Muze (Arko x Juno De Muze) to the second place spot on the podium. Dehoff and the 2012 Belgian Warmblood mare stopped jump off timers at 37.72 seconds. Rounding out the top three, JJ Torano then rode Chewbacca HCC (Clarimo x Wanda VII) to a double clear effort, taking third on 45.63 seconds with the 2012 Holsteiner gelding owned by Isalou Inc. & JET Show Stable.

The final day of competition at the the Yanmar America Tryon International Spring Three Day Event presented by Tow & Collect crowned five new champions, featuring Show Jumping competition in Tryon Stadium and the final rounds of Cross-Country competition on the White Oak Cross-Country Course at Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (Tryon International).
Cross-Country Results: Yanmar America Tryon International Spring Three Day Event presented by Tow & Collect
Day three of competition at the Yanmar America Tryon International Spring Three Day Event presented by Tow & Collect showcased Clayton Frederick’s course design at the picturesque White Oak Cross-Country Course at Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (Tryon International). The leaderboard of the CCI 4*-L Division saw a shakeup after two phases of competition: Boyd Martin (USA) and Cooley Nutcracker cleared the course ten seconds under time to take over the lead and carry a score of 32.7 into Sunday’s Show Jumping competition. Phillip Dutton (USA) and Jewelent (Valent x Roselier), the 2012 Irish Sport Horse gelding owned by Jewlent Group, also improved their ranking with a double-clear performance, with a 34.8. Bruce Davidson Jr. (USA) and Cooley Candyman (Sligo Candy Boy x Flame Hill), the 2013 Irish Sport Horse gelding owned in partnership with Cassandra Segal, collected eight time faults to claim third place on a score of 41.2 points.
Dressage Results: Yanmar America Tryon International Spring Three Day Event presented by Tow & Collect
Mill Spring, NC - May 9, 2025 - The Yanmar America Tryon International Spring Three Day Event presented by Tow & Collect kicked off Thursday with Dressage in the International Stadium and Rings 6/7, continuing into Friday. The event serves as a qualifier for the US Open of Eventing (CCI* 4-S Division) and is the first Eventing competition on the 2025 calendar at Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (Tryon International). Spring 1 Results: Tryon Spring Series presented by Fields Auto Group
Saturday Night Lights presented by Skyla Credit Union kicked off at Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (Tryon International) in Tryon Stadium with the $75,000 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Grand Prix. Fresh off an FEI World Cup Finals appearance with Bull Run’s Jireh, Kristen VanderVeen (Wellington, FL) was unbeatable in the jump off to secure the win in a time of 35.979 seconds. Rowan Willis (Ocala, FL) grabbed reserve with a time of 38.441 seconds across the Manuel Esparza course, riding For Dilando PS, the 2016 Hanoverian gelding (For Pleasure x Dilanda Cha Cha) owned by Just a Cheeky One. Completing the podium was Campbell Brown (Fayetteville, AR) and Colina Z, the 2014 Zangersheide mare (C-Ingmar x Calina Z) owned by MMK Equestrian LLC, for their 39.341 second performance in the jump off.
Spring 1 Midweek Update: Tryon Spring Series presented by Fields Auto Group
The Tryon Spring Series presented by Fields Auto Group, BMW Asheville, Mercedes Asheville and DEFENDER kicked off with a slew of Hunter action, crowning Hayley Waters Wear (Sparr, FL) and Genuine (Diarado x Kampari W) as the $10,000 USHJA National Junior/Amateur Hunter Derby champions. The winning pair finished the morning with a score of 178 points. Finishing second overall with 175 points was Grace Loughlin (Austin, TX), riding Loughlin Sport Horses’ Briljant Z (Balougran Z x Robijn), the 2008 warmblood gelding. Lilly Sonneborn (Washington, DC) and the 2016 Holsteiner gelding, Big Country (Lord Fauntleroy x Turin 1), owned by Caroline Ingalls, completed the top three on 169.5 points.
Katydid CDE at Tryon International Crowns USEF National Combined Driving Pony Championships for Training, Preliminary, Intermediate, & Open Advanced Divisions
Mill Spring, NC - April 29, 2025 - Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (Tryon International) welcomed the Katydid CDE to the venue April 24-27, also hosting the USEF National Combined Driving Pony Championships for Training, Preliminary, Intermediate, & Open Advanced Divisions. Skyla Credit Union to present Saturday Night Lights at Tryon International
Tryon International is pleased to welcome Skyla Credit Union as the presenting sponsor for the 2025 Saturday Night Lights series, hosted sixteen Saturdays May through October. Each Saturday Night Lights presented by Skyla Credit Union combines family fun for all ages with Grand Prix show jumping competition under the lights in Tryon Stadium, and is a signature tradition for the community.
These action-packed nights feature free entertainment such as pony rides, live bands, face painting, rides on a hand-painted Venetian carousel, performers, and more. Closing out the Tryon Welcome Series presented by Rug & Home, John Angus (Mooresboro, NC) struck gold in Sunday’s $20,000 Tryon International Grand Prix. Aboard W. Tonix Hero (Ogano Sitte x Taquine De Roll), Angus cruised through the Brody Robertson (Ocala, FL)-built jump off course in 39.07 seconds. John Brown (Mill Spring, NC) and Ponce Tidwell Jr.’s 2013 Belgian Warmblood, Ballon Bleu (Amaretto D Arco x Papilon), marked 39.80 seconds in the jump off to take second. Claiming third on a jump off time of 40.17 seconds, Doug Payne (Rougemont, NC) piloted Chaccolate RFB (Chacco Blue x Wolrusa), Issy Kelly’s 2013 warmblood gelding, to the final podium spot.

Fernando Cardenas (New Hill, NC) claimed his first victory of the Tryon Welcome Series presented by Rug & Home in the $20,000 Tryon International Grand Prix, fending off eight horse-and-rider teams to make the jump off. Cardenas blazed through the short track aboard Copine Van De Langvelden Z (Cicero Z x Coranda Van Herkenrode Z), recording a time of 39.30 seconds to take top honors. Andrew Ross (Reinholds, PA) rode his own Cornet’s Cobalt (Cornet’s Prinz x India D), the 2013 Belgian Warmblood gelding, to a jump off time of 39.33 seconds for reserve. Riding for Stephanie Angus, John Angus (Mooresboro, NC) finished out the top three with W. Tonix Hero (Ogano Sitte x Taquine De Roll), the 2003 Dutch Warmblood gelding, completing the jump off with 40.41 seconds on the clock.

Part of the Tryon Welcome Series presented by Rug & Home, Tryon Welcome 2 concluded Sunday with the feature class in Tryon Stadium, the $20,000 Tryon International Grand Prix. 21 entries contested the Seth Clayton (Lakeville, MN) course design, with Wilhelmina Horzepa (Millstone Township, NJ) taking top honors on two of her Grand Prix mounts. Horzepa piloted Mac Mittens (Don Diablo HX x Anabelle S) to top honors, clocking 37.03 seconds in the jump off. Horzepa’s second place entry, her own College Fund (Unknown x Unknown), the 2011 Holsteiner gelding, stopped jump off timers at 39.08 seconds. Finishing just behind Horzepa, Florian Ferry (Williston, SC) rode Agathe Heurteux’s Balkan De Riverland (Unknown x Glycine Des Bois II), the 2011 Selle Français gelding, to third with 39.67 seconds in the jump off.

Touring Tryon Stadium in a lightning fast jump off round, Santiago Arenas (Fuquay Varina, NC) claimed the first Grand Prix win of Tryon International’s Welcome Series presented by Rug & Home. Aboard Maba Indigo (My Way x Mariposa), Arenas posted the fastest round of the 21-entry $20,000 Tryon International Grand Prix with 37.15 seconds on the clock. Florian Ferry (Williston, SC) took home the remaining podium positions with a pair of equine teammates owned by Agathe Heurteux. Marking 37.57 seconds in the jump off, Ferry finished in second with Balkan De Riverland (Unknown x Glycine Des Bois II), the 2011 Selle Français gelding. Ferry then partnered with Ines Shanti (Unknown x Quinta De L'othain Z), the 2018 Selle Français mare, riding to 39.62 seconds in the jump off for third place.

The video documents the resilience of a community pushed to the brink by an unprecedented weather event and salutes the leadership provided by the Tryon International Equestrian Center (Tryon International) in Mill Spring (Polk County), North Carolina. The storm caused an estimated 241 deaths (104 in North Carolina) and inflicted $78.7 billion in damage.

Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (Tryon International), together with Stuller Power Solutions, presenting sponsor of 2024 Winterfest at Tryon International, gathered together with members of the media and representatives from Safelight to present a check for nearly $9,000 to the Western NC nonprofit. Tryon Cares presented by iHeartMedia is a giveback initiative which launched in 2022, as part of Tryon International’s Winterfest events, partnering corporate sponsors with local nonprofits to give back each holiday season, and provide the opportunity to spread awareness for each nonprofit. As the title sponsor of 2024 Winterfest at Tryon International, Stuller Power Solutions partnered with Safelight to donate back one dollar of every paying vehicle that drove through the Shadrack’s Drive-through Light Show.

The 5th Tom Bass Seminar on Diversity in Equestrian Sports will be held as a hybrid event on Saturday, November 23th from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m. EST. Hosted at the newly constructed Overmountain Lodge on the campus of the Tryon International Equestrian Center and Resort (TIEC) in Mill Spring, North Carolina (USA), the meeting will examine issues relating to diversity in domestic and international sport.
