Mill Spring, NC - May 9, 2025 - The Yanmar America Tryon International Spring Three Day Event presented by Tow & Collect kicked off Thursday with Dressage in the International Stadium and Rings 6/7, continuing into Friday. The event serves as a qualifier for the US Open of Eventing (CCI* 4-S Division) and is the first Eventing competition on the 2025 calendar at Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (Tryon International). Live streaming for Show Jumping phases on Saturday and Sunday can be found at www.Tryon.com/streaming, and free shuttles are available to and from the White Oak Cross-Country Course on Saturday. Woods Baughman leads CCI 4*-L Division Dressage with Hopak de Greenbay Z

Woods Baughman (USA) and Hopak de Greenbay Z slipped into first place ahead of Boyd Martin’s two CCI 4*-L mounts, earning a 31.3 in the sandbox. Martin (USA) rode Barney Rubble, the 2014 Hanoverian gelding (Cador 5 x Glockenklang) owned by the Barney Rubble Syndicate LLC, to a score of 31.3, collecting a score of 32.7 aboard Cooley Nutcracker, the 2014 Irish Sport Horse gelding (Tolan R x Cobra) owned by the Nutcracker Syndicate.

Baughman and the 2013 Zangersheide gelding (Herald III x Cassini I) owned by Manderly Farm LLC have been working on their straightness, he shared. “We've been working on getting him a little bit straighter behind. It worked out today! He can get a little nervous and tight, but he was pretty relaxed.”

“It’s great to be back at Tryon. I love it, and there's always good vibes here,” he detailed. “I love that everything's in one place, and it's easy and set up great. The horses are happy, and it feels very similar to being at home, so they settle well, and there's no stress for me, no stress for the horses, and it makes for a happy weekend.”

Though he hadn’t gotten a chance to tour the Cross-Country course as of Thursday afternoon, Baughman is letting his preparation play out for the rest of the weekend. “Wednesday, we started winding down and giving him easier work to get him loose and happy so that he'd be prepped and full of energy this week. It’s worked out!”

 Sharon White and Jaguars Duende In Front of CCI4*-S Division After Two Phases

After the Dressage phase on Friday, Boyd Martin (USA) sat atop the CCI 4*-S leaderboard with longtime partner, Tsetserleg TSF, the 2007 American Trakhener gelding (Windfall 2 x Buddenbrock) owned by Christine, Thomas and Tommie Turner, earning a 28.7. After Show Jumping in the International Stadium on Friday afternoon, it was Sharon White (USA) and Jaguars Duende, her own 2016 Westphalian mare (Jaguar Mail x Lancaster), who held top honors on a score of 31.2. Caroline Pamukcu (USA) and Redfield Dexter, the 2013 Dutch Warmblood gelding (Dexter R x Solitair) owned in partnership with Sherrie Martin and the Dexter Syndicate, also produced a clear round to advance in the standings, carrying forward 32.0 points. William Coleman (USA) and Fahrenheit Addict, the 2015 Selle Francais gelding (Utah van Erpekom x Echogene Latour) owned by Team Rebecca, LLC, ended their day in third with 36.6 points after adding 4.4 points to their Dressage score.

Monica Spencer and Marvel Score 26.9 to Best CCI 3*-L Dressage Phase

Monica Spencer (NZL) and Marvel, the 2017 New Zealand Sport Horse gelding (Cassiano 3 x CorofinoII) owned in partnership with David and Karie Thomson, danced to a score of 26.9 to carry forward a handy lead in the CCI 3*-L Division. In reserve after the first phase, Katie Lichten (USA) and Fast Company, her own 2015 Selle Francais gelding (Contendro I x Mr. Blue), received 29.1 points. Just behind with 29.2 points, Gabby Dickerson (USA) rode Top Carrera, the 2017 Hanoverian gelding (Carridam x Contendro I) owned in partnership with Roland Millican.

Will Coleman Leads CCI 3*-S Division with Very Dignified After Show Jumping

CCI 3*-S Show Jumping  concluded with William Coleman (USA) and Very Dignified, the 2015 Irish Sport Horse mare (Dignified van’t Zorgvliet x Ricardo) owned by Jerome Broussard, Gloria Callen, and Elizabeth Lendrum, holding a score of 25.8 before Cross-Country competition. Caroline Pamucku (USA) and HSH Connor, the 2016 Irish Sport Horse gelding (Connor 48 x Mermus R), owned in partnership with Sherrie Martin and Luann Mcelduff, improved from fourth place after their double-clear round to second place on a score of 27.1. Third place belonged to Meg Pellegrini (USA) and Falcon Crown Z, the 2013 Zangersheide gelding (Farfelu de Muze x Landjonker) owned in partnership with Hank and Margaret Pellegrini, on a score of 27.3 points.

Meghan O’Donoghue and Global Eros are First Phase Frontrunners in CCI 2*-L Division presented by Ken Feagin Truck & Trailer

The CCI 2*-L Division presented by Ken Feagin Truck & Trailer saw a competitive top three in Dressage, featuring a two-way tie for second place. Meghan O’Donoghue (USA) and Global Eros, the 2017 Warmblood gelding (Unknown x Unknown) owned in partnership with William Duhring, collected a score of 24.8 points to leave the start box as leaders on Saturday. Devon Tresan (USA) and Zavallo, the self-owned 2014 Dutch Warmblood gelding (Zavall VDL x Quicksilber), and Elinor O’Neal (USA) riding DHI Noteworthy, the 2018 mare (Zirocco Blue VDL x Jestarina VDL) owned by Sally Cox, both scored 26.6 to sit equal second after Dressage.

Ashley Kehoe and Daktaris Lead CCI 2*-S Division Ahead of Cross-Country

Ashley Kehoe (USA) and Daktaris, the 2016 Holsteiner gelding (Dinken x Cormint) owned by Ashley Kehoe Eventing, hold a score of 29.5 after CCI 2*-S Dressage competition. In reserve with a score of 29.6 points, Lucienne Bellissimo (GBR) and Duke’s Jory, the 2017 Holsteiner gelding (Duke of Heart x Con Air 7) owned by Horse Scout Eventing, danced their way into second place. Rounding out the podium ahead of Saturday’s Cross-Country test was a tie for third place: William Coleman (USA) and Honest Man, the 2018 Belgian Warmblood gelding (Tannenhof’s Fahrenheit x Johnson TN) owned in partnership with Richard and Roxanne Booth, as well as Lauren Nicholson (USA) and How Easy GG, the 2017 Selle Francais stallion (Upsilon x Quite Easy) owned by Jacqueline Mars and Christa Schmidt, both having accrued 30.1 points. 

CCI 1*-S Dressage Leaders: Kendyl Tracy and Dublin ZR

Kendyl Tracy (USA) and Dublin ZR, the 2019 Hanoverian gelding (Diacontinus x Chico’s Boy) owned by Leslie Mintz, are leaders of the CCI 1*-S Division after Dressage with a score of 24.8. Will Faudree (USA) and Cooley All In, his own 2018 Irish Sport Horse Gelding (Chello III VDL x Kroongraaf), scored 26.7 points for reserve. Sharon White (USA) and Namara CFF, the 2018 North American Dutch Warmblood mare (Everdale x Vivaldi) owned in partnership with Wiley Grosvenor, danced to a score of 28.2 in the sandbox.
