Duke “Jump for the Children” Shows Relocate to Tryon International for November 2025

For Immediate Release

Mill Spring, NC - June 25, 2025 - Tryon International, together with Glenn and Joan Petty, have announced that the Duke "Jump for the Children" Horse Shows will be moving from Raleigh, NC to Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (Tryon International) in November 2025. Two weeks of competition (November 5-9, November 12-16) will feature USEF National and Level 4 competition, continuing a 42-year tradition of raising lifesaving funds for Duke Children’s Hospital (Duke Children’s). Duke “Jump for the Children” I is a USEF Heritage Competition. The series will be preceded by the Triangle Farms Finale C, hosted October 31-November 2 (NCHJA C, SCHJA Palmetto and BRHJA).

The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and US Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) both granted approval for the change in location, allowing these historic favorites to continue at a larger scale and improve competitor experience.

Class highlights include weekly $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derbies, $2,500 USHJA Pony Hunter Derbies, Duke Children’s Lead Line, and $50,000 Duke Children’s Grand Prix classes. Hosted at Jump for the Children II (November 12-16) will be a special USHJA Hunter Team Challenge Southeast.

More details are still to come and will be shared at Tryon.com, including prize lists and entry information. Onsite lodging, eight on-site restaurants, and expansive shopping make Tryon International a world-class destination for competitors and spectators alike, offering year-round events and entertainment. Sponsors who wish to support the cause are encouraged to inquire at sponsorship@tryon.com

“For the 42nd show we have two goals,” said Joan Petty, longtime organizer, “to produce great Duke Jump for the Children shows with Tryon International and raise sponsorship dollars, adding to the $3.8 million raised by these horse shows for Duke Children’s since 1983.”

“The Duke Children’s family is so grateful to everyone at ‘Jump for the Children,’” said Ann M. Reed, MD, chair of the Department of Pediatrics and physician-in-chief at Duke Children’s. “Every year I am impressed by their efforts, and the event is truly more than a horse show. Every dollar raised during Jump for the Children’s 40-plus year history has supported the critical needs of Duke Children’s, including critical care, pediatric research, and the education of tomorrow’s pediatric providers. The ‘Jump for the Children’ organizers represent the best of our community, coming together in support of what matters most: our children.”

"Tryon International is thrilled to welcome the Duke 'Jump for the Children' Horse Shows in 2025. We are honored to support this incredible event and its mission to raise critical funds for Duke Children's Hospital. We look forward to providing a world-class venue for competitors and spectators alike, and to contributing to the ongoing success of this meaningful tradition."

“We are excited to host the Duke ‘Jump for the Children’ Horse Shows at Tryon International starting in 2025 and to continue our fundraising mission,” said Petty, “‘Because Nothing Matters More!’”
