  • Tryon International Competitors:

As we have learned over the last few years, we live in a world of equine infectious disease events which are outside of our control. Thus, we must make adjustments to best support competitions while protecting our equine athletes through the implementation of necessary biosecurity measures.

In light of the current vesicular stomatitis USDA confirmed cases in Riverside and San Diego county (California), Tryon International management has made the decision to increase our equine biosecurity protocol through the Tryon Summer Series.

After thoroughly reviewing the information provided by United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and consulting with our Vet Service Managers at Tryon Equine Hospital we have made the decision to immediately restrict entries from USDA confirmed Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) affected states to the Tryon International Equestrian Center.

Horses are NOT allowed to enter property if:

The horse has been located in a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) confirmed Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) affected State.

The horse has known symptoms of EHV or has been treated for EHV-1/4 within the past 28 days.

Horse has been at a facility under quarantine for EHV-1/4/VS or any other infectious disease or exposed to any horses showing symptoms of infectious disease within the past 28 days.

The USEF, USDA, and Tryon management will continue to monitor the Vesicular Stomatitis situation and provide updates as warranted. The above equine arrival protocols will remain in effect until further notice.

Please direct any questions to the Equine Health and Biosecurity Veterinarian, Dr. Katie Flynn, at kflynn@usef.org or 859-225-6991.
