Mill Spring, NC - July 11, 2025 - Championing the $5,000 USHJA Open National Hunter Derby with the highest second-round score of 90 and the second highest first-round score of 88 for a total of 178, Tiffany Cambria (Upperville, VA) rode Not To Worry (Casall x Flora VI). The 2017 Westphalian gelding, Innamorato (Angel x Unknown) owned by Emily Sweeny with rider Lauren Underhill (Long Lake, MN) scored an 88 in the handy, earning them Reserve Honors on a total score of 174. Last week’s derby champions, Ceyda Sezer (Roswell, GA) and her own 2016 Belgian Warmblood gelding New Beginnings (Prince van de Wolfsakker x Doreen van het Lindehof), had the highest first round score of 89, finishing in third place with a score of 171.

The 2008 Holsteiner gelding owned by Sarah Hellman placed second in last week’s Open National Hunter Derby, but came back to win in Tryon Summer 5. Cambria shared, “We did the derby last week, and we came in second; he was fantastic! Then this week, I just kind of came out having the same kind of plan and idea of what I wanted to do, and then just let it unfold from there.”

“Especially for Not To Worry, he's really, really good at handies, so I always kind of plan that first, know the turns, have my layout as far as where to start, and then I walk the Hunt section.” Cambria noted of her strategy. “I know his strength, his weakness, what lead he typically likes to land more than the other, and then just knowing my track, what to do, and when the handy part starts, having that plan ahead of time.

“I really do trust him [Not To Worry] fully, and kind of have my plan, and usually stick to it. He really is good at these derbies, and he really shines in this so he just kind of does these classes and comes out!”
Going into her second week at Tryon International, Cambria reflected of her experience, “Oh, I love it here! The venue is fantastic, the people are so nice, I love the competition, great rings, great restaurants… so it's a fantastic venue!”

Winning team member, Lynn Yoos, who posted the best overall round in round one, spoke highly of her Zone Championship experience, “I would like to thank my trainers, Cindy and Kelli Cruciotti of Serenity Farm Show Stables, and Kelli Clevenger [trainer] at home who couldn't make it, and she's the one that really helps me the most. Ozana and Kathryn Motes had a successful day, despite a few time faults on the clock in the final round. “I'll thank my trainers, Stephanie and Austin Cumming.” A frequent competitor for ten years here at Tryon International, Motes shared, “My horse [Ozana] is only five, and I've only showed her twice and they said go for it, so I'm glad that we did!”

“Getting to where I am with this mare has been a process. Thank you Hala and Walid Alrashed out of Tomball Texas for giving us the opportunity to do it!” Lively concluded, “This was my first time doing anything like this in show jumping, and my first time competing out here, [at Tryon International] not my horse's first time, so I felt a little happy and relaxed about that. She [RSH Glamorous] was amazing, though. I think she really enjoyed being back in the big ring and feeling the energy. I absolutely loved it, and it's been such an amazing experience, and to win is even better!”

Posting the fastest clear trip of the championship round, Sweeney credited her teammates. “This team is just so uplifting. Everybody was hyping each other up, and that just made it so much fun.”
Sweeney said of her experience at Tryon International: “I had such an amazing experience, I have been coming to Tryon for five years, and it's definitely one of my favorite showgrounds. The facilities are great, and I love showing in the Stadium; it's just such a cool atmosphere. And you know, the gold is just the cherry on top.”
Madyson Rylee, aboard Quality Bravo Z, is also a frequent competitor at Tryon. “I've been showing at Tryon since I was on ponies, and now that I'm doing the 1.00/1.10m it's just great! To think that six months ago, I didn't have this horse, and now I made it to Zones, it's just insane.”

Scullion explained how special it was to her for the chance to compete at Zones. “This week has been amazing - It's like nothing I've ever been a part of, and I'm so grateful for my team to have been with me during all this, and just everyone that's put it on. It's been incredible!”
Spencer Dyson echoed Scullion’s gratitude for competing with a team. “It really just adds a whole other layer onto the horse riding experience - you've had [riding] your whole career, and have your barn teammates, obviously, but having a team that you're scored with… the entire time I'm on course, I'm thinking that I don't want to let my team down!”

Chef d’equipe Tori Bentley concluded by expressing how unique the team aspect offered at Zones is to these young riders. “We did some team bonding activities that I felt brought all of you guys [Team Abdullah] closer together, without our horses. I think that really makes all the difference in these kinds of championships, knowing your teammates and connecting with them and being able to support them to their fullest potential.”
