Mill Spring, NC - September 14, 2025 - Tryon Fall Dressage 1 & 2 presented by Cedar Direct took place September 12-14th. Judges Cindy Canace and Margaret Freeman were in the boxes for over two hundred rides. From Training to FEI, there were classes of all levels for competitors and spectators to enjoy!

Open Division Rider Kristin Layton aboard Lindrini WF Received Top Score in the Prix St. Georges

Kristin Layton rode her own 2016 Dutch Warmblood mare, Lindrini WF (Baanbreker HBC x Reflex M) to the highest score of the weekend in the Prix St. Georges. Together they earned a 76.176% from judge Cindy Canace in Sunday’s class. Their highest marks (9.0) were awarded for flying changes of leg every 3rd stride and travel down the centre line. Adult Amateur’s Kimberly Clark and Elma Garcia were both high scorers across Saturday and Sunday’s Prix St. Georges. Clark and her mount Ferentio (Fürstenball OLD x Laurentio 3) produced a 66.912% on Saturday and a 66.176% on Sunday. Aboard her own Dream Catcher (Don Darius x Londonberry), Garcia scored a 68.971% and 62.941%. Completing the Junior Division solo, Damiana Mercado, representing Puerto Rico rode Ivanhoe (Davino V.o.d. X Nairobi.) to scores of 69.412% and 67.5%

High Point Winner: Camilla Van Liew and Over The Moon in the USEF Third Level - Test Three

Camilla Van Liew competed both Saturday and Sunday in the USEF Third Level Test Three class producing top scores with her mount Over The Moon (Fürst Toto x Watermill Scandic.) Van Liew and the 2019 Dutch Warmblood gelding achieved the highest class score of 67.750% on Saturday. Their highest mark (7.5) was given at movement six, Change rein, extended trot, and then Collected trot. Sunday, the pair were tied for the top Adult Amateur position residing at 67.625%. Their top marks (7.5) were received during movements two, six, and fifteen. Both of these scores were marked as qualifying rides for this duo.

Adult Amateur and Open Division Riders Compete for First Place in the FEI Intermediate I*

In the Open Division, local rider and Olympian, Julio Mendoza Loor riding for Ecuador posted the top scores in the FEI Intermediate I*. Piloting Jewel Court Stud USA, LLC’s Deparon (Deveraux 3 x Londonderry 3), to scores 73.382% and 70.000%. The 2014 Hannoverian gelding received a 9.0 for movement six, the halt and rein back during Sunday’s competition. Competing in the Adult Amateur Division, Jessica McCaskill rode her own 2014 Oldenburg gelding, Freaky Like Me (For Romance OLD x Farewell III) to second place. This duo received a 60.000% on Saturday and a 63.971% on Sunday, earning high marks for their entrances, exits, and collected canter.
