Mill Spring, NC – October 9, 2025 – An international podium took over Tryon Stadium after the conclusion of Thursday’s $32,000 LeMieux Welcome Stake CSI 3*. The top spot was awarded to Tanner Korotkin (USA) who piloted Cardozo 4 (Colestus x Falkenhof’s Lancer) to the win. The 2012 Danish Warmblood stallion Wannabe CS (Warrant x Pythagoras), owned by Brooke Peterson and ridden by Peter Petschenig (AUT), received reserve honors. Luis Sabino Goncalves (POR) rode the Sigma Stables, LLC mount Scoop De Septon Z (Hunters Scendro x Echo Van T Spieveld), the 2014 Zangersheide mare, to third place.

The 2013 Westfalian gelding owned by Todd Minikus, LTD, “jumped his guts out” for the win against fifty-two trips. The Anthony D'ambrosio (USA) designed course proved difficult, with only five riders going clear in the first round. Winning rider Tanner Korotkin stated, “I thought the track was definitely tough, especially with one down and a time fault with my main horse [Kinmar Quality Hero].”

Just coming off a Grand Prix win in Wellington, Korotkin was pleased with his mount’s performance on Thursday. “Cardozo – he's a phenomenal horse!” The fastest double clear round began with a plan, he shared. “I was fortunate enough to go fourth out of the five of us. Seeing the other guys go, I thought my horse was naturally quicker than some of theirs – so I'm just going to be smart here, do the numbers I have to do, and then really gallop up to the last jump!”

Tryon International holds happy memories for Korotkin. “I jumped my first National Grand Prix here when I was a kid, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have quite a few good results here,” he detailed. Competing at this venue for many years, Korotkin concluded, "it's always great coming here. I think the facility is great, the staff and everybody is extremely nice and helpful. It’s a great show, and always fun coming back and competing here!”
